How to disable Announcements in Canvas course
1. Go to Settings in the left course bar.
2. Click on Navigation
3. Select the three vertical dots next to Announcements and click disable.
4. Click Save

Disabling Discussions in Canvas course
1. Go to Settings in the left course bar.
2. Click on Navigation
3. Select the three vertical dots next to Assignments and click disable.
4. Click Save
